The star of Covert Affairs and the lesbian-themed films Imagine Me & You and Lost and Delirious, Piper Perabo, was arrested protesting Donald Trump's Supreme Court pick Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearing Tuesday, according to USA Today.

"I was just arrested for civil disobedience in the Kavanaugh hearings," Perabo tweeted. "Many citizens before me have fought for the equal rights of women. I can't be silent when someone is nominated to the Supreme Court who would take our equal rights away."

Prior to the arrest, Perabo, 41, posed for a picture with organizers of the National Women's March who were also arrested.

"Proud to stand with them and to stand up for equal rights," Perabo tweeted about the Women's March organizers.

Perabo and others, mostly women, according to USA Today, stood and shouted "be a hero" and "please vote no" while in the Capitol hearing room, prompting Texas Sen. John Cornyn to call it "mob rule" and "unlike anything I've seen before in a confirmation hearing."

Women have been particularly vocal about Kavanaugh's nomination as he has been coy about his stance on Roe v. Wade and could provide the fifth Supreme Court vote to overturn the landmark abortion legislation.

Outside of the hearings, women dressed as handmaids from The Handmaid's Talesilently protested Trump's pick.

It's not clear how long Perabo was detained after Capitol guards escorted her out of the hearings, as she resumed tweeting not long after.
