"Be sure about your answer, sir," the senator asked the Trump acolyte, who seemed frightened by the question.

Extremely bumbling responses from Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee during his confirmation hearing raised many more questions than they answered.

California's Democratic senator Kamala Harris asked Brett Kavanaugh on Wednesday whether he had spoken to anyone about Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to throw him the 2016 election.

"With other judges I know," he responded.

"Have you discussed Mueller or his investigation with anyone at Kasowitz, Benson & Torres, the law firm founded by Marc Kasowitz, President Trump's personal lawyer?," Harris, a former litigator, asked.

"Uh...," Kavanaugh said.

"Be sure about your answer, sir."

Republican senator Mike Lee objected to Harris's questions, saying there are far too many lawyers in Washington for Kavanaugh to be sure who he talked about Mueller with. In the midst of his objection, a protester interrupted, screaming, "Be a Hero! Vote No!" and others yelling for Kavanaugh to, "Answer the question!"

Nearly seven minutes later, Harris asked if Kavanaugh was not going to deny speaking about Mueller's investigation with Trump's personal lawyers. Kavanaugh began to mumble again when Harris said she'd move on. "Clearly you're not going to answer the question." Watch below.
