"The #WinWithLove Rally not only captured the soul of the Orlando community, but it illustrated how out of touch with American values the Trump administration is," Brandon J. Wolf, a Pulse nightclub survivor, tells The Advocate. "Presenters included Hurricane Maria survivors, Pulse nightclub shooting survivors, women who have accessed abortion, March For Our Lives leaders, Dream Defenders, TPS workers from the hospitality industry, drag queens, Mariachi bands, and progressive champions from across Central Florida. The highlight of the day, though, may have been JJ Holmes. JJ is an activist living with cerebral palsy who lifted up his story of struggle, determination, and his fight for healthcare access. By the end of his speech, JJ had the crowd of thousands roaring with joy and crying in solidarity. Orlando showed Donald Trump and the world that its response to the terror and hate of the Pulse nightclub shooting was not a fluke. In our city, we win by embracing our diversity, we win by rejecting bigotry, and we win with love."
