What impact might a strike have?
The reality is, if we lose our gay planners,
we're not going to have very good parties out
there. There are two very specific party
planners--gays and straight women. And the
ironic thing is, the straight women have to surround
themselves with gay vendors to make themselves look good.
That's how I started my career. I worked for
these women who were clueless!
Would you take part in a strike?
Absolutely, 1,000%

What do you think of the idea of a strike?
As far as anyone sabotaging an event,
it's appalling. It shows a great lack of
professionalism. If someone hires you to do a wedding, you
do it.
Would you take part in a strike?
If it could be done in a fun and successful
manner without being bitter and twisted. But I
wouldn't do it if my client's wedding was on
that day--although I would [spread awareness
and] get on the phone and send e-mails to my client
list saying, "This is what's happening
today."

What do you think of Wedding Wars' premise?
I think it's a phenomenal concept, and
[the movie] will create an awareness amongst its
straight audience of how many people they come in
contact with that might be gay--and in positions to
sabotage a lot of their world!
Would you take part in a strike?
Speaking as a human being, not an LGBT person, I
would really have to look at why they were striking,
what the outcome we wish to have would be, and if I
can put my neck on the line for something I believe in. If
so, I would in a heartbeat.

exclusive line of holiday housewares and home decor.
Can you see a strike like this actually happening?
It might happen in one town, but I don't
see it happening on a nationwide basis. Everyone needs
their income. Are we going to cut off the hand that
feeds us? And if I say no to a job, the baker and floral
designer and lighting designer I hire lose a job too.
Would you take part in a strike?
I believe everyone deserves fair treatment. But
I don't think I would take part, because I take
on such limited projects every year. I'm not
very political. I beat to my own drum.

as the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation,
Starwood Hotels, and former president George H.W.
Bush.
Have you ever experienced discrimination?
I worked for some extremely ultraconservative
families who may very well be the ones going to the
polls [and voting against gay interests], but they
never, ever made me feel like a second-class citizen. And
they know if they want their son or daughter's
wedding to be fabulous, they need to let someone gay
plan it!
Would you take part in a strike?
Yes! I would lead the pack! Maybe we should go
on strike the day the movie comes out.
