President Obama's focus on commemorating LGBT Pride month for service members signals a "mind-numbing prioritization problem," according to former Arkansas governor and 2016 presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee.
Instead, Obama should be singularly focused on developing a "complete strategy" to defeat the terrorist group known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, contends the candidate and former Fox News host.
In fact, there are a litany of issues the president should be spending his energy on -- and none of them involve thanking gay, lesbian, and bisexual members of the military for their service, according to a post on Huckabee's official Facebook account Monday.
Huckabee's comments come in the wake of Secretary of Defense Ash Carter announcing that, for the first time, LGB troops will be protected by the military's nondiscrimination policy, known as the Military Equal Opportunity Policy. Notably, neither Huckabee nor Sec. Carter made any reference to the fact that transgender troops, some of whom were reportedly in attendance at the Pentagon's Pride celebration Monday, are still barred from serving openly in the U.S. Armed Forces.
