Equal Marriage, the Equality Network campaign for same-sex marriage in Scotland, has produced a new video campaign, "It's Time," highlighting the diverse support for marriage equality in the country, reports The Scotsman.

Several celebrity Scots have joined campaign, including actors Brian Cox, Billy Boyd, and Alan Cumming, who said he wanted to take part in the video "because as a Scot, I feel our country should be aware of the inequality that exists, as we are not a nation to discriminate."

New legislation that would legalize same-sex marriage is expected to be considered by the Scottish Parliament this week.

"We're proud of the 'It's Time' video campaign, which demonstrates the breadth of support that exists for equal marriage in Scotland, and reflects the values of equality and compassion that have always been at the heart of our society," said Tom French, policy coordinator for the Equality Network."We hope that in the coming months MSPs will vote by a clear majority to give same-sex couples an equal right to celebrate their love and, in doing so, they will send out a strong message to the world about the kind of fair and progressive country we want Scotland to be."
