Not one to keep quiet about the issues, late-night talk show superstar Jon Stewart took Wednesday night's episode of The Daily Show to give viewers his spin on the historic oral arguments regarding nationwide same-sex marriage that took place at the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
Nothing was off limits in Stewart's comedy-filled takedown, and one of the highlights of his Supreme Court-themed segment included a critique of comments made by John Bursch, the attorney arguing for same-sex marriage bans.
"When you enact social change of this magnitude through the federal courts ... that's not the way that our democratic process is supposed to work and there are long-term harms to our country and to that fundamental liberty interest to govern ourselves," Bursch said in the Supreme Court Tuesday.
"We have both a fundamental liberty to govern and a court empowered to stop us from abusing that liberty to take other people's liberty. That's how the system works!" Stewart responded on The Daily Show.
