Proposition 8 backer Randy Thomasson -- who once leveled the accusation that California officials were "dissing God" by not going to bat for the anti-marriage equality measure in court -- hasn't warmed up to the idea of same-sex marriage.
In fact, Thomasson thinks anti-marriage equality governors should task the National Guard with halting the issuance of marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
"I don't expect any defense of real marriage from Democrat governors, who are virtually locked into the delusion of homosexual 'marriages,' " he told right-wing site WND. "But Republican governors who say they believe in man-woman marriage -- well, that's an entirely different story with different expectations. ...
"Pro-family governors know what they can do, but apparently don't want to do all they can do to protect marriage and the people's vote. And we're guessing pro-family organizations may not know what governors can do, so we're informing them and trust the principled ones will jump into action to lobby conservative governors very hard."
He sent a letter last week to several such organizations, asking them to inform governors of their supposed powers to stop same-same marriages, such as stipulating "that no homosexual 'marriage' licenses will be issues, and no county clerk is permitted to issue marriage licenses to anyone other than aqualified man and woman" and using "the support of the state attorney general (if that constitutional officer is willing to stand alongside) or use the state's National Guard to enforce the law at county clerk's offices."
Thomasson is the founder and president of Save California, a "pro-family" and anti-LGBT organization that includes among its goals "challenging liberal lies with God's timeless moral truths."
Joe Jervis at JoeMyGodrounded up some of Thomasson's choicest previous anti-LGBT remarks, including disparaging LGBT pioneer Harvey Milk as a "homosexual predator" and calling on spectators at last year's Rose Parade to boo at a two men who exchanged vows on a float during the event.
