The 40th annual Albuquerque Pride celebration began Thursday, June 9, with a vigil for all those LGBT people who have lost their lives over the years and to reflect on how far we have come as a community. Little could participants know the mass devastation that was to happen three days later in Orlando. But the LGBT community in Albuquerque knew, like so many of us, that the world is still an unsafe place for us. That is why it is so important to celebrate Pride and to refuse to be invisible. Thanks to the folks at Albuquerque Pride for these photos.
