Oakland Pride gets the East Bay rocking.
The Pride celebration in downtown Oakland, Calif., Sunday showed a slow but steady growth for a festival that's now in its seventh year. “Last year we had over 42,000 people, and we hope to grow that number up to 50,000 this year,” Pride cochair Carlos Uribe told OaklandNorth.net.
There were four stages for entertainment, including a stage for female-identified artists and a stage for Latin artists who are popular in the LGBT Latino community. Recording artist and Broadway star Deborah Cox was a featured performer.
