Expecting a favorable result in a national postal survey on same-sex marriage, Adelaide was jubilant. Read more below.
Thanks to photographer Henry Scott for the wonderful photos in South Australia of Adelaide Pride from November 11. Henry's statement that ran along with his gallery was inspiring, so we share it here with you.
"Expression and self-empowerment are powerful tools. To live in a society that allows people to accept others for who they are, who they want to be, and who they choose to love is an incredible value Australian democracy now has. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to capture this day firsthand with the Pride Parade in Adelaide this month. This particular march is about acceptance. People being who they want to be and being true to themselves. People expressing themselves in the most creative way possible and doing it in a society that accepts and honors that. This march shows how diverse, creative, and joyful our society is. Full of extremely talented people, confident people and people willing to stand up for their right to equality, wear their hearts on their sleeves, standing strong for what they believe in and being proud of it."
