A quartet of Pride marshals greeted a huge crowd of proud revelers who turned out throughout the weekend for the Ninth Annual Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade and Festival, presented by Celebrity Cruises. The three-day Pride weekend started Friday, April 7 with a poolside VIP reception at the W South Beach hotel and transitioned into a full-day beach party on Saturday, before culminating with the Pride parade and festival on Sunday. The event saw a record 135,000-plus come out for the weekend’s festivities.
Ross Mathews served as celebrity grand marshal, with a record-breaking number of parade entries, including 74 parade contingents, 22 floats, and over 3,000 participants.
Since its inception in 2009, Miami Beach Gay Pride has grown from a neighborhood event to an event on the global stage with A-list celebrities such as Elvis Duran as grand marshal in 2016 and Jordin Sparks as headline entertainer. Mario Lopez was grand marshal in 2015, Gloria Estefan was grand marshal in 2014, and Adam Lambert performed in 2013.
Dates for Miami Beach Gay Pride 2018 are April 6–8. Visit MiamiBeachGayPride.com.
