It's already that time again: Pride season is beginning.
2022 will mark, for many, the first post-pandemic Pride celebration in person. In Palm Beach, their event last month coincided with the 30th anniversary of the annual festivities. Having been built into the largest gay and lesbian visibility event in Palm Beach County, it generally features a parade, live performances, and more. This year, the event also featured a mass wedding with 30 couples.
The wedding was officiated by Palm Beach County Clerk of Courts Joseph Abruzzo'office and inspired by a mass marriage at the clerk's office on Valentines Day.
Palm Beach Pride is hosted by the Compass LGBTQ Community Center. The executive director of Compass, Julie Seaver, and her partner of 16 years were one of the couples who married. There was a reported 30,000 attendees which organizers said was their biggest event yet. The theme this year was "Proud Together" and this year organizers expanded the Youth Village.
