New York City's Pride March drew a huge crowd to the streets of Manhattan Sunday, and while the event was about love and support for LGBTQ+ people, it had a new sense of urgency given Friday's Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, thus allowing states to restrict of ban abortion.

The ruling is devastating given that many LGBTQ+ people do undergo unintended or problematic pregnancies and therefore seek abortion, and also because conservative forces may soon go after other rights that have been recognized by the Supreme Court, including the rights to contraception, private consensual sex, and marriage to a partner of one's choice. Justice Clarence Thomas has said the court should revisit these rulings. The court cannot rule unless a case comes to it, but undoubtedly opponents of these rights are working on some.

Planned Parenthood headed the march, the first in-person NYC Pride March since 2019. Watch Pride Today's video report below.
