Pastor Kevin Swanson is taking a victory lap after his headline-making National Religious Liberties Conference in Iowa earlier this month. After hosting Republican presidential candidates Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee, and Bobby Jindal (who since left the race), the Colorado preacher who calls for gays who don't repent to be sentenced to death went on radio to reflect on the "media firestorm" he created.
Generations Radio listeners heard Swanson declare that all the outrage over his remarks is proof that America is at war with God:
"Any time the nation has taken up a fight with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the Creator of the universe, you don't pick a fight with the Creator of all of the galaxies, all of the planets, this entire solar system, you don't pull together a couple of ants and lift a fist to the Almighty and think you can get away with it," he said. "This is, I think, the reason why the media firestorm -- we have touched the conscience of a nation and they realize they're in trouble, they're in trouble with the God of the universe."
At his religious freedom conference, attended by some 1,700 people, Swanson announced that he believes that churches should have sackcloth and ashes at their entrances for Christian families whose "sons are rebelling, hanging out with homosexuals, and getting married, and their parents are invited. And I would sit in cow manure, and I would spread it all over my body."
