Sometimes you can get dirty for a good cause. The inaugural Out-Fit Challenge Mud Run, held on June 29 in New York City's Tuxedo Park, raised money to support the Family Equality Council and New York's LGBT youth shelter Ali Forney Center. The mass regional sporting event was originally created as a graduate school project by Out-Fit Challenge CEO Tory Fitzgerald, while at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, and now has grown to be a series of national events open to all to bring awareness to LGBT family equality.

The Out-Fit Challenge is the first-ever LGBT national mud run, according to the organizers, building off its previous success in Miami. Each event features more than 15 military-style obstacles that can include mud, water, and ice throughout the 3.2 mile trail, with each obstacle given an entertaining name like "Pipe Dreams," "Vagitarian," "Commando Crawl," and "Is that Mud in Your Pants?" After racers cross the finish line, they celebrate with a festive post-party featuring a live DJ, muddy go-go boys, and a drag queen hostess.
