Dian Hanson's History of Pin Up Magazines from Tashchen is an amazing three volume collection that traces the fascinating development of pinup magazines in the U.S. and Europe, from 1900 to 1969. She also covers men's magazines masquerading as movie magazines, humor magazines, art magazines, nudist magazines, and "spicy" fiction. It's a must for any lovers of the genre or women artists.

Meanwhile, The Alluring Art of Margaret Brundage: Queen of Pulp Pin-Up Art by Stephen D. Korshak and J. David Spurlock (Vanguard) offers a great compilation of works from an female (and at least visually bisexual) artist from the 1930s and beyond who hasn't gotten the credit she deserves, especially from feminists. A staunch leftist, Brundage, who created sexy and provocative covers for the legendary pulp magazine, Weird Tales, was the first female cover artist of the pulp era, and her paintings of scantilly clad women (sometimes sporting S/M gear like floggers) influenced most of the artists who came after her.There are three versions but the deluxe hard cover slipcased limited edition is the best bet.
