Gay Rugby Players Will Do Anything to Raise Money

The capital of country music is home to both the Grand Ole Opry and a gay rugby team. The Nashville Grizzlies is a nearly 10-year-old team of LGBT rugby players and straight comrades. Raise money to keep the team going, the players skipped the car wash and bake sale and photographed themselves in the shower for a new calendar.

Thankfully, the 2016 calendar is already available. The team's Thomas Hormby tells Towleroad that the Grizzlies will host the world championship of gay rugby -- known as the Bingham Cup for 9/11 hero/gay rugby player Mark Bingham -- in May. The team is expecting 45 teams and 1,500 players and fans to descend on Nashville for the first-ever gay rugby championship held in the South.
