It was a record year for LGBT Olympians in more ways than one.
The 2016 Summer Olympics, held in Rio de Janeiro, boasted the biggest number of out LGBT athletes ever -- nearly 50 -- and the largest number of medals, 12, won by individual LGBT competitiors or teams with out members. There were also proposals, emotional coming-out speeches, and controversies. Take a look at some of this year's Olympic highlights in the videos below.
