Earlier this month, soccer star Megan Rapinoe was named one of Glamour'sWomen of the Year along with others including Charlize Theron, grown-ish's Yara Shahidi, author Margaret Atwood, filmmaker Ava DuVernay, and climate activist Greta Thunberg.

Rapinoe pulled off a hat trick this summer going toe-to-toe with Donald Trump, fighting for equal pay, and winning the World Cup as a captain of the U.S. Women's National Team.

In its intro for the Women of the Year coverage, Glamour emphasized that the honorees had all moved the needle in various ways.

"In the 29 years that we've celebrated Women of the Year, our honorees have broken glass ceilings, shattered records, and redefined success on their own terms," the intro reads. "This year we welcome eight new women into this sisterhood who, like the honorees before them, are using their chosen profession and inimitable spirit to push our culture forward."

Regarding the out and proud soccer star and activist Rapinoe, Glamour wrote:

"Like soccer player Megan Rapinoe, who not only helped pave the U.S. Women's National Team's path to World Cup glory -- scoring six goals during the competition -- but led a tireless fight for equal pay. In March 2019, on International Women's Day, Rapinoe and the rest of the team sued their bosses for gender discrimination. Flash-forward to their epic win this summer, when the stadium started chanting, 'Equal pay! Equal pay!' as they took their victory lap."

Other Glamour Women of the Year honorees are fashion designer Tory Burch and the women of the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services, who've fought tirelessly for immigrants' rights.
