National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) and the United States women's national soccer team player, Kelley Maureen O'Hara, announced her engagement to Kameryn Stanhouse.
O'Hara wrote on Instagram that she "saved the best for last in 2022."
The two were engaged on New Year's Eve and spent the night celebrating with friends and family, according to Politico. Stanhouse is the head of corporate ad sales at Politico.
O'Hara, who has been a FIFA Women's World Cup champion and a member of the gold medal-winning 2012 Olympic team, currently plays as a defender as part of the New York/New Jersey Gotham FC. She's also the founder and host of the podcast Just Women's Sports.
Back in 2019, O'Hara became a queer icon when she ran to Stanhouse for a kiss after the U.S. won the World Cup, which was also her public coming out.
