The proposed legislation would ban gender-affirming health care for people up to age 21 and require school staffers to out trans kids to their families.

“The Heath Care Ban violates the constitutional rights of Tennessee adolescents and their parents, and — if it goes into effect — will cause severe and irreparable harm,” the complaint says.
The ban means public employees are forbidden to advise young people even on social transition.
The legislation, signed Monday by Gov. Kevin Stitt, includes the possibility of felony charges for violation.
Lawmakers passed the legislation over Gov. John Bel Edwards's veto.
The state is advancing Rep. Leigh Finke's bill to protect young trans people and their parents from out-of-state actions that would prevent or punish gender-affirming care.
The bill that's advancing would make it a felony to provide this care.
Republican Gov. Eric Holcomb had expressed some doubts about the legislation but ultimately signed it.
The state is just the latest one to pass such an anti-trans law.
Legislators gave final approval to the ban Wednesday, and Gov. Greg Abbott has promised to sign it into law.
