Bei Tong is the anonymous author of Beijing Comrades, and his true identity has been a subject of debate since the work was first published on a gay Chinese Web site in 1998 and quickly earned a devoted following. The book, excerpted here, is now translated into English for the first time by Scott E. Myers.
