A second new law bans "childfree propaganda" with 5 million ruble fines (the equivalent of $48,000).
In a 463-0 vote, Russia's State Duma approved a measure that would ban LGBT events or public discussion and prohibit individuals from providing information to minors about the LGBT community.
The two bills are the latest in Russian President Vladimir Putin’s attacks on the LGBTQ+ community.
The proposal will be discussed by legislators this fall.
