The resolution recognizes the accomplishments of trans people and commits to affirming their rights.
"This resolution honors the lives of the trans people we have lost to senseless violence and stands as a symbol of their resilience," says U.S. Rep. Pramila Jayapal.
The panel discussed the Republican onslaught of attacks against the transgender community.
"When we create environments for transgender people to thrive, we create a society where people can live the lives they deserve to live."
They warn that anti-LGBTQ+ laws elsewhere have the potential to threaten LGBTQ+ people in the U.S. too.
