The resolution recognizes the accomplishments of trans people and commits to affirming their rights.
"When we create environments for transgender people to thrive, we create a society where people can live the lives they deserve to live."
The new president hasn't issued a ban yet, but this action will allow him to.
"This resolution honors the lives of the trans people we have lost to senseless violence and stands as a symbol of their resilience," says U.S. Rep. Pramila Jayapal.
They warn that anti-LGBTQ+ laws elsewhere have the potential to threaten LGBTQ+ people in the U.S. too.
“Too many transgender people have been killed just for living as their true, authentic selves,” Rep. Pramila Jayapal said.
