Despite a series of bomb threats against legislators in the state, Maine's Gov. Janet Mills has signed a transgender and abortion sanctuary bill into law.
The authorities deny that it was a raid, but bar owners, managers, and patrons are asking what else to call it.
Efforts are underway to repeal the state constitution’s antiquated same-sex marriage ban, aligning state law with federal rulings and securing rights for the LGBTQ+ community.
It's against Florida law to allow trans girls to play on the schools' girls sports teams.
"We just want to be accepted, and she just wants to be a kid. It shouldn’t be that hard to be a kid,” the girl's mom said.
The regulation affects both transgender adults and youth.
