Caitlyn Jenner will play a character in Amazon's third season of Transparent.

In an interview Saturday at the GLAAD Median Aards in Los Angeles, Transparent creator Jill Soloway told the Associated Press it was a "dream come true" to have the Olympian on the show.

Jenner will begin filming scenes for the show next week. Soloway told the AP that it was not hard to convince the I Am Cait star to join the show. "We are all part of the same community. A lot of the trans women who work on our show are also in her show, I Am Cait," Soloway said. "Lots of crossover. Lots of friends."

E!'s I Am Cait and TLC's I Am Jazz tied for best Outstanding Reality Program at the 27th annual GLAAD Media Awards.Transparent also won a GLAAD award for Outstanding Comedy Series.

In her acceptance speech Saturday, Jenner acknowledged how instrumental GLAAD, an organization that advocates for LGBT diversity and representation, has helped her and her show. I Am Cait depicts Jenner's journey in life after the Olympian came out as transgender in an ABC interview and in a Vanity Fair cover story last year.

The transgender reality star, who has come under fire for her Republican political views, recently told The Advocate she would like to be the "trans ambassador" to Ted Cruz.
