RuPaul is gearing up for the next phase of world domination.

VHI has green-lit RuPaul's Celebrity Drag Race, in which public figures will vie for the title of "America's Next Celebrity Drag Superstar."

The four-episode event series will feature 12 famous contestants, who will undergo drag transformations with the help of RuPaul's Drag Race alums. These include Alyssa Edwards, Asia O'Hara, Bob the Drag Queen, Kim Chi, Monet X Change, Monique Heart, Nina West, Trinity the Tuck, Trixie Mattel, and Vanessa Vanjie Mateo.

In addition to bragging rights, the winner of RuPaul's Celebrity Drag Race will win a cash prize, which will be donated to the charity of their choice.

RuPaul made the announcement Tuesday during a panel at Vanity Fair's New Establishment Summit. Comedian Whitney Cummings served as the moderator.

"Doing drag does not change who you are, it reveals who you are," RuPaul said a statement sent to press. "I can't wait for the world to see what happens when our celebrity contestants get all up in drags!"

RuPaul's Celebrity Drag Race is the latest spin-off of the Emmy-winning drag competition first launched in 2009 from the World of Wonder production company. Others include RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars, the newly launched RuPaul's Drag Race UK, and the upcoming Drag Race Canada.

Celebrity Drag Race also calls to mind the short-lived RuPaul's Drag U, in which Drag Racers gave makeovers to (nonfamous) female contestants. The reality show ran for three seasons from 2010 to 2013.

The Celebrity Drag Race contestants and special guests have not yet been announced. The show will premiere sometime in 2020.
