Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum are taking the runway on the road!
The former adviser and host of Project Runway have reunited for Making the Cut, an upcoming Prime Video reality show of designers vying to become the next global fashion business. The first trailer of the highly anticipated series dropped Monday.
Making the Cut is billed as the "first-ever global and instantly shoppable series." Taking advantage of its platform, the winner of the competition will receive $1 million to invest in their brand and an exclusive line will be available for purchase through Amazon. Viewers will also be able to engage with the show in a unique way, as one of the winning looks from each episode can be bought through the e-commerce company as soon as it has aired.
Similar to Project Runway, each episode features an elimination of one designer (more or less). The star-studded panel of judges -- a rotating assemblage that includes Naomi Campbell, Nicole Richie, Joseph Altuzarra, Carine Roitfeld, and Chiara Ferragni -- gives each episode's at-risk designers an opportunity to present their case and perhaps avoid the cut.
The first trailer previews some of the jaw-dropping looks from the designers -- and some of the judges' withering critiques. "I'm not putting my mother in that outfit," Campbell declares during one runway show.
And unlike Project Runway, Making the Cut travels the designers around the globe to New York, Paris, and Tokyo in order to showcase an international take on the fashion industry. The 12 designers -- several of them LGBTQ -- are Sander Bos, Rinat Brodach, Ji Won Choi, Jasmine Chong, Jonny Cota, Martha Gottwald, Troy Hul Arnold, Joshua Hupper, Esther Perbandt, Will Riddle, Sabato Russo, and Megan Smith.
In addition to presiding over the runway and workroom, Gunn and Klum have their own fun field trips in these destinations. The supermodel even wears an elaborate pink can-can dancer's costume to perform at the Moulin Rouge.
Gunn and Klum, along with Sara Rea, Jennifer Love, and Page Feldman, serve as executive producers of Making the Cut, which is directed by Ramy Romany and produced by Amazon and SKR Productions.
Making the Cut premieres March 27, and two episodes drop weekly until the finale on April 24. Watch the trailer below.
