Before there were influencers, there was Angelyne.

The mysterious blond, pink-obsessed figure became an icon in 1980s Los Angeles after appearing on a billboard to advertise nothing but herself, prefiguring an era when self-promotion would become the norm on social media.

For decades, Angelyne has materialized in various Hollywood and West Hollywood locales, selling T-shirts out of her pink Corvette. But not much was known about her until a recent Hollywood Reporter expose dug deep into her private life and allegedly uncovered her real identity.

Now her story has been adapted into a miniseries for Peacock, NBC's upcoming streaming service. A new trailer shows actress Emmy Rossum (Shameless) transformed into the mythic persona.

"I am a bright, pink light here to inspire joy," a high-pitched Rossum tells Martin Freeman in the clip released Thursday. Rossom shared it to her Twitter account captioned with lipstick.

"You want to grab people's attention?" she asks in the clip. "You have to tease."

Peacock is slated to launch July 15, and Angelyne will debut soon afterward. The miniseries also features Jefferson Hall, Brian Carpenter, Lukas Gage, and Vida's Tonatiuh, who portrays Angelyne's gay personal assistant and confidante, Andre.
