Last night, everyone's favorite ally Pedro Pascal appeared in a prerecorded acceptance speech for the MTV Movie & TV Awards — holding three "Golden Popcorn" awards.
"I'm going to, uh, take these to bed with me," The Mandalorian star said, smiling.
The Last of Usand its cast were the biggest winners of the evening, bringing home three awards: best show, best hero, and best duo. The post-apocalyptic HBO series, which drew acclaim for its LGBTQ+ representation, aired earlier this year and ran for nine episodes. It has since been renewed for a second season.
It's no stretch to say that 2023 has been Pascal's year, and the hype train shows no signs of stopping as he continues to make headlines. Last month, his dazzling (and very leggy) Met Gala outfit turned heads, while this month, he'll appear opposite Ethan Hawke in the gay western Strange Way of Life, set to debut at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.
And of course, there are the awards. During the first of his three virtual acceptance speeches, Pascal advocated for young people. "You deserve a world that serves your interests ... you deserve to be safe, you deserve for your individual rights to be fought for and protected," the star said after winning best hero for playing Joel on The Last of Us.
"You are real heroes to me and I love you," he added.
Pascal's second speech for winning best duo was addressed to nonbinary actor Bella Ramsey, who won for the same category. "I miss you, I love you, you are the duo," he said.
During their prerecorded acceptance speech, Ramsey — Ellie on The Last of Us — said thank you to MTV and their fans and apologized for not being at the award show in person.
The 19-year-old actor then spoke about their costar. "Me and Pedro love each other deeply," they shared, "and I couldn't imagine doing this without him."
Later, Pascal accepted the award for best show on behalf of the creators, cast, and crew of The Last of Us. During the speech, he called working on the series "one of the best experiences of my life" and expressed his support for the ongoing movie and TV writers strike.
