Judy, Bette, and Joan! Oh, my!
Award-winning actor and playwright C. Stephen Foster is back with a new streaming production of his hilarious madcap comedy Legends & Bridge. Directed by Paul R. Gymziak, the digital production from the Dramatically Incorrect Theater Group & Dance Company streams this Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Eastern. The show is produced via special arrangement with BlackBox Theatre Publishing Company, and tickets are available for purchase at DITGDC.org.
Described as an offbeat mix of Feud and Judy, Foster's Legends & Bridge tells the imagined tale of down-and-out divas Bette Davis and Judy Garland, who go to live with Joan Crawford so they can all appear in Crawford's new comeback vehicle. The script is one epic catfight, with drunken divas hurling too many outrageous zingers to count. Throw in Tennessee Williams and one very hunky half-naked boy toy, and you have a hilariously bitchy hand of bridge. The streaming production stars veteran actresses Valerie Schillawski as Crawford, Debbie Richardson Moylan as Garland, and Jen Knight as Davis. Steven Cristofono appears as Williams.
You can watch a teaser for Legends & Bridge below. Tickets are available at the Dramatically Incorrect Theater & Dance Company's site.
Foster joined Eugene Ebner on Inspire You recently to discuss this latest production of his stage play Legends & Bridge. He tracked the genesis and evolution of the project, describing the final script as a "sort of a conglomerate of my years of working in drag, my years of working in theater, and that's how it all came about in the writing."
