Activists protested the Trump administration's latest anti-transgender move in from of the White House Monday. Read more below.
Responding to the news of a memo circulating in the federal government that would endanger the rights of transgender Americans and even deny their existence, the National Center for Transgender Equality and the Human Rights Campaign gathered to protest today on Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House. Under the theme #WontBeErased, the activists are opposing efforts spearheaded by the Department of Health and Human Services' Office for Civil Rights to enforce, across all government agencies, a definition of gender as fixed at birth and based on genitalia, and changeable only with the support of genetic testing results. The American Civil Liberties Union plans to sue immediately if the memo goes into effect. Another protest was held Sunday night in New York City.
