Stunning Trans Women Compete at Thailand's Miss International Queen

Pat Mazzera was moved to photograph The Miss International Queen pageant to highlight the contestants' bravery to transform public opinion.

"In the media we often see transgender people portrayed unfavorably and I believe it's time to effect positive change and compassionate dialogue on this topic. I've seen transgender people courageously express who they are in a world not totally accepting of them. This inspires me to tell their stories to wider audiences," Pat told us.

On the information page on the pageant, the first two objectives of the event are: "To promote the organization of tourism activities in Thailand", and "To create equality and acceptance in society."

While a pageant may be considered old-school by some, this particular event is slick, beautiful, and represented by a wide variety of women from around the world.
