Marc Solomon spent years working as an activist so same-sex couples could earn the right to wed in this country. While working for the organization Freedom to Marry, he documented the decade-long journey from the first court ruling in Massachusetts in his book Winning Marriage. After the Supreme Court ruling of Obergefell v. Hodges, Marc was pleasantly surprised in his personal life. He met Daniel Barrett, fell in love, and they wed November 5, 2016, in Brooklyn.
Jason Mitchell Kahn is an event planner and author who published Getting Groomed: The Ultimate Wedding Planner for Gay Grooms. It was the first of its kind on the market. While Freedom to Marry was still hard at work, Jason collaborated with the group to auction off his planning services to an engaged couple who put the organization on their wedding registry. Then after the historic ruling in 2015, Freedom to Marry came to Jason to plan its victory party. When Marc and Dan got engaged, they knew exactly who to contact to plan their nuptials.
