A giant banner sign posted at a home near the University of Cincinnati campus asking "Your daughter got a gag reflex?" has area residents, returning students, and alumni upset, saying it represents rape culture. They're demanding the university take swift action against those responsible.

An image of the banner was posted to the University of Cincinnati's Facebook page Sunday by angry students and alumni demanding a response from the university. The sign was not even written with proper grammar, causing some to question the quality of education University of Cincinnati students were receiving in other areas.

The banner has now been taken down, according to WXIX, though it is unclear when. It was located at 2729 Stratford Ave., just blocks from the university campus and hung for incoming Freshmen to see. Students are believed to live in the building, which is privately owned.

Commenters on the university's Facebook page were incensed. "As a proud alumni of UC I am horrified by this. What will the University do about this promotion of rape culture?" asked Jessica M. Culbertson. Said Derek Davidson, another commenter: "Do you think this is appropriate?"

Deonna Helton was very upset. "Every year, thousands of young women are sexually assaulted on college campuses. Universities sweep these cases under the rug and deny seeing any signs. You too University of Cincinnati?" she wrote on the school's Facebook page.

University officials have yet to respond to The Advocate's requests for comment, but a spokesman did talk to local TV station WXIX. "Students agree to a code of conduct when they become a student at UC," said Greg Vehr, vice president for university communications, noting that the code of conduct applies whether they are on campus or off. The university is looking into whether the banner was put up by a student, the station reports.

Classes began at the University of Cincinnati this week.
