The Makers Conference is possibly the largest gathering of female movers and shakers in the world, celebrating and fostering female empowerment and equality. This year's event, taking place now in Dana Point, Calif., featured speakers like #MeToo founder Tarana Burke, feminist icon Gloria Steinem, actress and activist Jada Pinkett Smith, and HuffPost editor-in-chief Lydia Polgreen.

Former Secretary of State and 2016 popular vote winner Hillary Clinton beamed in a message to the audience during this week's event, praising the record number of women elected to Congress in November.

"I am energized and encouraged by the diverse group of women everywhere who are speaking out," Clinton said. "Speaking out against inequality and bigotry and racism and homophobia."

Clinton also heaped praise on Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, saying she demonstrated that, "It often takes a woman to get the job done."
