There's a lot of ugliness in today's news (President Trump, Attorney General Barr, etc.), but there was a glimmer of beauty when Michelle Obama released a lovely video honoring Beyonce's Homecoming.

The former First Lady, long a fan of Beyonce, was reacting to the pop superstar's new concert film, which chronicles her historic performance at Coachella. Not only was Beyonce the first African-American woman to headline the nation's biggest music festival, but she made her show a statement, honoring the traditions of America's historically Black universities and colleges.

"Hey Queen!," Obama said at the start of her heartfelt video, before reveling in the historic Black leaders, thinkers, and poets that Beyonce honored in Homecoming; people who Obama says paved the way for "folks like us."
