Reaction was swift and mostly negative after television writer Gary Janetti posted a photo of Prince George holding hands with a boy at the royal wedding and implied the child is gay.

Janetti -- a former writer for Family Guy and former executive producer of Will & Grace, as well as the husband of celebrity stylist Brad Goreski -- uses his Instagram account as a parody of the royal family and speaks in the voice of the four-year-old prince, who's the son of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

On Sunday, one day after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding, Janetti posted a photo of George holding hands with fellow pageboy Jasper Dyer; the photo was cropped to feature Queen Elizabeth and captioned: "Grandma, have you met my boyfriend?" (The queen is actually George's great-grandmother.)

"Dude. let children alone. They will be who they will be," and "I don't like this. These are usually funny this is just rude," were some of the reactions to the post, which racked up nearly 1,200 comments as of Tuesday afternoon.

Janetti hasn't apologized for the post, and published another on Monday that featured George and Dyer posing with Harry and wife Meghan Markle and the caption, "We're next."

George's sexual orientation has sadly come up before. A Scottish clergyman wrote a blog post in November saying Christians should pray that George grows up to be gay so that the Church of England softens its stance on LGBT people.
