Following the U.S. presidential election, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres delivered a message of unity, asking viewers to come together. However, her recent guest Macklemore made his views clear, performing a new political song criticizing the rhetoric of Republican president-elect Donald Trump during an appearance on her show.
DeGeneres told the audience she begged the singer to perform "Wednesday Morning," a song he had written regarding the outcome of the election. His lyrics include references to LGBT equality, a running theme in his previous hit "Same Love."
"We ride for all the queer folk and fight for all to get married. I'm not moving to Canada, not fleeing the nation. No time for apathy, got no tears and no complainin'," Macklemore sings. "Gotta fight harder for the next four and what we're faced with. Got my daughter in my arms and he is not gonna raise her."
