Broadway Week, a special promotion returning September 1-14, will let theatergoers buy two-for-one tickets to 21 Broadway shows, including LGBT-inclusive musicals Kinky Boots and Cabaret.
Based on the 2005 movie of the same name, Kinky Boots stars Tony-winning out actor Billy Porter as Lola, a drag queen who saves a shoe factory on the verge of bankruptcy. Written by Harvey Fierstein with songs by Cyndi Lauper, the inspirational musical won six Tonys, including Best Musical, Best Choreography for Jerry Mitchell, and Best Score for Lauper.
Alan Cumming reprises his Tony-winning role as a pre-war Berlin nightclub's flamboyantly omnisexual Emcee in Roundabout Theatre Company's revisited revival of Cabaret. Bill Heck stars as Cliff Bradshaw, a sexually liberated American writer based on Christopher Isherwood, gay author of the Kander and Ebb classic's source material.
LGBT-inclusive musicals A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, If/Then, Jersey Boys, Mamma Mia!, Once, and Rock of Ages will also offer two-for-one tickets as part of the Broadway Week promotion. Other participating shows include Aladdin
