Help The Advocate win a Readers' Choice Award from the American Society of Magazine Editors.
The American Society of Magazine Editors has released its list of Best Cover of the Year finalists, and The Advocate is in the running.
ASME nominated The Advocate's December 2014/January 2015 Person of the Year cover, a depiction of Russian President Vladimir Putin that gives an illustrative nod to Time's controversial 1938 Man of the Year selection, Adolf Hitler.
The cover sought to shine an international spotlight on Putin's "crusade against LGBT Russians," which entailed enacting and then enforcing antigay legislation during the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics.
Time, The New Yorker, Essence, The Hollywood Reporter, The New York Times Magazine, Politico, Mother Jones, and Wired are also Best Cover nominees in the ASME Readers' Choice Awards, which is determined by the number of Facebook "Likes" a cover receives.
The Advocate is the only LGBT magazine to receive a nomination.
